We designed, installed, setup and provided support for the new LAN network environment of Laboratorios Roemmers by completely renewing the Core and WLAN equipment.
The mission we were commissioned by Laboratorios Roemmers included several challenges, such as moving facilities, the need to innovate in traceability circuits and a real critical connectivity within the structure. It was also necessary to provide security in wireless environments and help the customer to improve performance through a system covering scalability in terms of connected devices, users and applications.
Our engineering team carefully designed and planned the tasks. We removed the existing equipment and then installed, set up and provided support for Cisco Catalyst 4500 Series and 3850 Series LAN/WLAN equipment in redundant configurations for the cores at the main plants. We also incorporated the Cisco Catalyst 2900 Series clusters for connecting server farms with multiple 10GE connections. The WLAN solution consisted of the migration of the physical WLC to a virtual WLC, in addition to the upgrade of the obsolete APs, the firmware upgrade of the equipment capable of supporting the new scheme and the extension of coverage to the rest of the offices and plants with new equipment of the Aironet 1800 and 2800 series.
To enhance control and management, we also incorporated Cisco services Prime™ Infrastructure for network management, and Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) for the administration and control of security policies, simplifying access control and improving security of wired and wireless devices, both under the Cisco ONE software licensing scheme. The maintenance of the installation -which includes advanced parts replacement (RMA), support from Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) and software upgrades- was performed under SMARTnet mode, which connects the end user directly to Cisco. Roemmers has combined this with our NetCare service in order to achieve a better cost/benefit ratio and count on a high-level technical support and full availability.
